San Vicente de Chucurí is a city located in the department of Santander in Colombia. Founded in 1755, it has witnessed Colombia’s rich history and has been an important commercial and cultural center in the region for centuries. With a population of approximately 56,000 people, San Vicente de Chucurí is a vibrant and lively city.

One of the most outstanding attractions of San Vicente de Chucurí is its colonial architecture, dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The cobblestone streets and colonial-style buildings with red roofs and white windows are a sight for sore eyes. One of the most emblematic buildings in the city is the San Vicente de Paul church, built in honor of the French saint, built in 1789 and restored in 1985. The church is known for its baroque architecture and for being one of the oldest colonial buildings in Colombia.

 

Another tourist attraction in San Vicente de Chucurí is the Parque Nacional Natural El Cocuy,, located a few hours from the city. This park is known for its impressive landscapes, including mountains, lakes and waterfalls. It is also an ideal place for hiking and learning about the region’s biodiversity. Visitors can see a wide variety of animals, including pumas, deer and exotic birds.
